Is Accutane Suitable for the Treatment of Hydradenitis Supprativa?

Found out two years ago that i have this condition...in my armpits. It's horrible and am wondering if Accutane is something I can ask my dermotologist for to treat it? The only thing I've ever heard of was either surgery or just dealing with it.

Hidradenitis suppurativa and treatment

Hidradenitis suppurativa is something that is often misdiagnosed, so first, be sure this is really what you have. Second, Accutane isn't a medication I would go to first, but it can be considered. Usually a course of oral antibiotics including tetracycline, minocycline, and clindamycin are tried first for 2-3 months. If you have not tried this first, do this before you move onto Accutane because oral antibiotics (or a combination) help in about 3/4 of cases.
