Face Lift has no effect on impressions

Scott E. Kasden, MD answers: Will Face Lift before Invisalign have an effect on the impressions?

I am planning on having a Face Lift and I am also doing Invisaligns. I am scheduled to get my impressions before I have the lift. Will the surgery change anything as far as the impressions are concerned? Should I wait until after the surgery to have the impressions done? Thank you.

A face lift won't affect the orthondics, however the orthodontics may affect the face!

The impressions are of the teeth which are in bone.  This will not be at all affected by the face lift.  However, as the teeth move, it will change the relationship of the jaws. The change in the jaw relatinship will frequently produce visible changes in the face.
