Not a rare situation

Marcus L. Peterson, MD answers: When will right implant settle after Breast Augmentation and Lift?

I am 3 1/2 months post op from a breast lift and augmentation. My left breast is fabulous but my right one is still very high. I've been massaging but don't see any difference. When should I start getting concerned?

This is the most common problem that needs to be revised after a breast lift and implant combination.  The tissue is different on each side and the lift causes concerns for massaging the implants in the early time period.

After three months there will be very little change in the implant pocket that you can do with massage.  If you have been diligently working the implant and it is not moving then you will need to do an open capsulotomy to release the pocket and allow the implant to descend.  This is a simple maneuver that does not cause much pain or recovery.  The improvement is seen right away.
