Harold J. Kaplan, MD answers: What's the best treatment for eye wrinkles?

I have wrinkles under my eyes and crow's feet wrinkles on the outside of my eyes. What's the best treatment for these areas?

The eyes are surrounded by a frame that helps shape our face. A loss of volume to the temples and tear trough areas, combined with fine lines around the eyes leads many to seek out treatment options. Volume and support are easily restored with cosmetic dermal fillers. Using Botox around the eyes is an excellent option in softening, if not resolving, the lines that devlope. We have good outcomes using a combination of fillers, Botox, and the Erbium MicroLaserPeel. Find a practitioner that is able and willing to provide you with a tailored treatment plan to help you meet your goals.

A: Sunglasses and Botox for eye wrinkles

Botox is best for your crow's feet. A very small dose (2 units) of Botox injected just below the lower lash line helps with lower lid wrinkles.

A great new technology is Fraxel re:pair, an ablative fractionated CO2 laser that has shown very impressive results for both lower and upper lids. A light glycolic peel also works well for lower lid wrinkles. Surgically, a skin pinch is excellent.

Save the sunglasses for after your treatment.

Good luck.
