Evaluation by qualified rhinoplasty plastic surgeon necessary

Sanjay Grover, MD answers: What should I do about bad nose job results?

I have had the worst rhinoplasty i could possibly had. I am a 20year old male who had a medium long attractive nose. And considered by most to be very goodlucking. Then i had made the stupidiest decision under-going rhinoplasty (for small bump) and septoplasty.  Now my nose is sooo small,no bridge and very big nostrils. I have been waitng for revision rhinoplasty 4 7months and cant wait any longer. I havnt seen any of my friends for six months,i have been hiding and travelling far from home to work. And life is really hard. Researching rhinoplasty i havnt even seen any good nose work And i am really concerned. And i am very desperate and worked hard to save up day and night

A 'bad nose job' can be very subjective. A bad nose job can present itself with a undesired cosmetic appearance or an undesired breathing problem. Realize that the nose will go through a lengthy 'healing' period following rhinoplasty. This can be anywhere from 1 to 2 years. Do not rush into a rhinoplasty revision; however, it is not unreasonable to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon or another if you have significant concerns or anxiety. Avoid undergoing further surgery for at least one year following your initial rhinoplasty.

Before and After photographs of your nose are essential to determine what needs to be done. When you say "Bad Nose Job" it is important to define what you mean; some patients define "bad" as minor asymmetry or swelling after surgery, and this can improve with time.

If there is clearly a major problem, then it is better to correct the problem sooner rather than later. If your surgeon does not agree with your assessment of the results, then schedule a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has extensive experience with revision rhinoplasties.
