A bad nose job can often be corrected

Scott Trimas, MD answers: What should I do about bad nose job results?

I have had the worst rhinoplasty i could possibly had. I am a 20year old male who had a medium long attractive nose. And considered by most to be very goodlucking. Then i had made the stupidiest decision under-going rhinoplasty (for small bump) and septoplasty.  Now my nose is sooo small,no bridge and very big nostrils. I have been waitng for revision rhinoplasty 4 7months and cant wait any longer. I havnt seen any of my friends for six months,i have been hiding and travelling far from home to work. And life is really hard. Researching rhinoplasty i havnt even seen any good nose work And i am really concerned. And i am very desperate and worked hard to save up day and night

When you are referring to a bad nose job, it is important to consider several possible areas.

Is the result temporary? Often times continued improvement can be expected over the next year or so.

Secondly, is it a bad outcome based on too much tissue being removed? That is the hardest to fix since, other sources like ear or rib might be necessary to fix the problem.

Thirdly, is it a bad outcome because not enough tissue was removed? If that is the case, additional contouring is still highly achievable.

Finally, is there some asymmetry or crookedness present? Often this can be camoflauged with grafts and other techniques and ranges from simple to complex in nature.

It is also best to wait at least one year from your original surgery before seeking a revision to give your nose a chance to maximally heal.
