A lower body lift is a procedure typically done for patients that have a history of significant weight loss. it may also be known by several other names-belt lipectomy or circumferential body lift. It can include liposuction of the upper back or outer thighs.

it typically improves contour of the abdomen, lateral thighs and buttocks.

it accomplishes what an abdominoplasty does in the front of the trunk while also lifting and improving the shape of the thighs and and buttocks.

The procedure usually requires a 1-2 day hospital stay.  The recovery is similar to an abdominoplasty in that no heavy lifting is allowed for about 6 weeks. Most patients would take off 3 weeks from work.  it is a significant operation but makes major changes in the shape of the trunk.

Massive weight loss patients may benefit from body lift procedures.

The lower body lift addresses the hips, thighs, buttocks, and knee areas.  The goal of surgery is to restore natural proportions to the lower body, buttock, hips, and thighs.  This is performed by a belt lipectomy or more selective lower body lifting such as a thigh lift.

Procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis, but full lower body lifts may require hospital admission.
