Lower Body Lift is a great option for carefully selected patients...

Armando Soto, MD answers: What is a lower body lift?

What results can I expect from this surgery, and what is recovery like?

Hi there-

A lower body lift involves a tummy tuck or belt lipectomy on the front of the body, with concurrent tightening of the skin of the hips, and a buttock lift. The benefit on the abdomen is similar to a tummy tuck; the benefit for the thighs and buttocks can be conceptualized by imagining your thigh and buttocks skin as a pair of trousers that has sagged too low on your body- which you improve by grasping the trousers by the waist and pulling up. This maneuver produces significant tightening and smoothing of the thigh skin and re-shaping of the hips and buttocks.

Recovery is a bit more than what you would expect with a tummy tuck- you will probably need assistance around the house for a few days, but should be returning to daily activities on your own within that time. It will be 6 weeks before you are able to exercise or otherwise exert yourself.

For patients whose skin excess and laxity extends onto the lower extremities and buttocks, lower body lift is an excellent option with a high rate of satisfaction.
