The best thing about IPL is that the recovery is usually pretty minimal. Most of the time, you should be able to go back to the work immediately. Right after IPL, you may feel a slight buring sensation that lasts for about 1-2 hours and then you should have very little pain.

Sometimes bruising can occur, but this is when you are pretty aggressive with the settings. But the amount of bruising is usually minimal and makeup can cover it. Sometimes, swelling can occur, but this is usually, again, when the settings are aggressive. You can let your physician know how aggressive you would like and he can tailor the settings.  If you have some important places to be very soon, you can have them decrease the energy to account for this. IPL with its very low downtime is a great way to make your skin look a lot better by reducing/removing dark and red spots that detract from the appearance of your face.
