IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light.  It is a treatment that is designed to pull unwanted pigment such as sun damage out of the skin.  It also does very well with vascular conditions of the skin.   The light treatment identifies the pigmentation or vascular lessions as unwanted color on the skins surface.  The light is attracted to these areas and pulls the color to the surface.   Immediately following the procedure the skin may look much worse.  You will look like you suffered from a sunburn and your sun damaged will look more visible.  The good news is usually 8-14 days later the spots will disappear and your skin tone should have a much clearer vibrant apperance.  Most people can return to work the same day.  You may feel the need to wear a bit of makeup on the skin to cover the areas that appear to be dark. It may take anywhere from 2-5 treatments to achieve the clarity of the skin you desire.  The only downside I would have to say this treatments is you must stay out of the sun before, during and after the treatment if you want good results.  You must be a fair skin type to have this procedure.
