Restylane is a well accepted, safe dermal filler which is in the Hyaluronic acid family. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in our body, especially in the eye and knee joints. Ophthalmologists (eye specialists) and Orthopedic (bone specialists) actually use hyaluronic acid to lubricate the outer surface of the eye and the knee joints. Because of their rare incidence of side effects (i.e. redness, swelling, etc.) the hyaluronic acids in use, (Restylane, Juvederm, Prevelle) are very popular. The other consideration is that we all have the necessary enzymes to "break down" these fillers, so in the event that you don't like the results, they will abate in approximately 4-6 months.
The safety issues for a woman who is still considering pregnancy and breast feeding is to avoid dosing substances which could adversely affect your baby. There haven't been adequate studies on the use of any "filler" or "Botox" during pregnancy, so you should take a proactive stance and avoid using these substances, while you are pregnant and or lactating. Consultation with an experienced injector will probably confirm these recommendations.
