Rectocele and Vaginoplasties

A rectocele is a thinning of the tissue separating the vagina from the rectum, resulting in a bulging of the rectum into the vagina, especially during evacuation of bowel movements. A Vaginoplasty strenthens the wall between the rectum and the vagina and can treat the rectocele. It can also be said that the treatment of the rectocele results in a vaginoplasty

Vaginoplasty for Rectocele

Rectocele is the extreme form of laxity. It is a hernia, where the rectum herniated through the pelvic floor to the vagina. Repair of the muscles of the pelvic floor results in Vaginoplasty because of tightening of the muscles.

Vaginal tears, rectocoele and repair

It really is the reverse. A rectocoele repair can result in a vaginoplasty. Due to pregnancy the wall separating the vagina and rectum becomes thin and sometimes tears. This results in the bulging of the rectum into the vagina (rectoceoele). Repair is achieved by reinforcing or tightening this wall. This can achieve a tighter vagina as a side effect.
