11 Months after Rhinoplasty

The fact that nasal appearance does change throughout the day indicates that healing is not complete. However, this long after surgery it would be appropriate to see your surgeon and also get a second opinion to evaluate your concerns.

I Had Rhinoplasty Done 11 Months Ago..

Even though the swelling can still subside with time, the fact that it is not straight or uneven probably will not change.  Please send photos and we can advise you.  Ramtin Kassir, MD, NY, NJ Facial Plastic Surgeon

Swelling after rhinoplasty can last over one year

It's very common to have swelling (especially of the nasal tip) of the nose even 12 months after rhinoplasty. With laying down, gravity isn't allowing the nasal tissue fluid to drain as well as it would if you were more upright. The thicker your skin the more (and longer) the swelling will occur. Other than time, I tell my patients that the few things they can actively do to help the nasal swelling go down is to sleep with their head somewhat elevated and to follow a low... more

Rhinoplasty results and concerns

At 11 months you should expect some swelling, but it should be mostly resolved.  If it is not straight, you should discuss this with your doctor as it will not likely get better.  You may require a revision, but go see your surgeon and have him/her evaluate your results and make recommendations.  It's always OK to get a second opinion also, preferably from a surgeon who is not in direct competition with your current surgeon!

11 months after rhinoplasty

Hello, Swelling after Rhinoplasty will last from 18-24 months, and the final result will not be evident until that time. I would be happy to take a look at any photos you have and give you my advice. My contact information is listed in my profile. Thank you, and best of luck to you. Dr. Nassif

Rhinoplasty after 11 months.

If you have thick skin the tip may get slightly smaller, but the deviation is probably the way it is going to be. See your surgeon first and you may want a second opinion from a revision rhinoplasty specialist.

Revision rhinoplasty options

Your comment that it appears more swollen in the mornings suggests that some residual wound healing is still occurring. This is more common in patients with thicker skin, particularly. As for crookedness, by 11 months any crookedness is likely to remain permanently. Minor asymmetries, though, don't always require surgery. Sometimes minor contouring or the use of fillers (e.g., Artefill) can create a straighter appearance for less cost, fuss, and risk than more surgery.  These... more

Swelling may last for over a year following rhinoplasty

As a general rule, I tell patients to expect to see 85% of their result at a month, 95% at 6 months and 99% at a year. However, for patients with thicker skin or those who required more surgery it often takes longer. The first thing to do is go back to your original surgeon for an opinion. I have had a number of patients who had swelling at a year that subsided over the next few months. As for crookedness, this is unlikely to resolve but again, something to discuss with your surgeon. more

Rhinoplasty Done 11 Months Ago..

You did not post a photo! So I recommend seeking in person evaluations from 3 boarded surgeons in your area. If you are not happy than it sounds as if a revision is in order. From MIAMI Dr. Darryl J. Blinski, 305 598 0091

Prolonged swelling after rhinoplasty is possible

The amount of swelling after rhinoplasty can depend on your skin type, ethnicity, and surgical approach. It is certainly possible that you still are observing the effects of postoperative swelling. The best option for you now is to consult with your surgeon.

Rhinoplasty revision

Sometimes the nose can swell even more than a year after rhinoplasty. If this is the case, I would wait a bit longer before undergoing a revision.

Concerned with rhinoplasty results

Dear Rohit, There can certainly be some residual swelling in your nose even 11 months after surgery, but if it is not straight now you probably will require a revision. You should have your surgeon examine your nose properly and see if there is any need for steroid injections to decrease some of the swelling/scar tissue and discuss with you if a revision operation should be contemplated yet or not. Good luck. Dr. A. Gantous
