Subcision After Restylane?

I would like to get scar subcision done, but was wondering if I can get it about a month after a Restylane injection? Would the filler make subcision less effective? What would happen if I did so?

I know that fillers after subcision is a good idea, but what if it is reversed? I got Restylane injected into my scars a week ago and I want to get subcision done in a month.

Is it possibile to get subcision done after a filler? Or should I wait 6 months or so for the Restylane to subside before I go on with subcision?

Subcision should be before restylane

Subcision is likely to remove a portion of the Restylane during the procedure and is probably best to get the subcision first, then the Restylane.

Subcision Should be Before The Filler

The goal is to break up all the scar tissue holding up the skin and pulling it downwards causing depressions. Once that is done by subcision then injecting a filler to smoothen the skin works well. For acne scarring etc, Sculptra might be a better filler than Restylane. Regards

Subcision should not be a problem after Restylane

General surgeons are not using a hyaluronic sheet material called seprafilm to control abdominal adhesions following abdominal surgery. Oculoplastic surgeons have been exploring the use of this product to prevent adhesions from forming in the eyelids after surgery. The concept behind subcision is breaking the scar the hold down the base of the depressed acne scar. There are additional changes as well due to a focal loss of fat underneath the acne scar that occurred with the original skin... more

Subcision after Restylane

If you had restylane injected into your depressed scars, I would not recommend saline subcision at this time, as it would disperse the restylane that you just paid for. As Dr. Chong mentioned, however, the subcision technique is frequently used to create a "pocket" under the scar and this pocket is then filled with restylane. Filler should not make the subcision procedure less effective. Good luck.

Subcision before fillers for facial wrinkles

I will do some subcision before filler in two areas of the face. The laugh lines and the glabellar furrow. So just before injection to these areas, if the fold or wrinkle has a heavy dermal attachment component, I will take a needle and gently release it, then fill it. This may cause a slight bruise, but in the end it helps smooth the fold.

Subscission and Dermal fillers

I must have missed the reason why you are considering subscission in conjunction with Restylane. I have used dermal fillers, like Restylane to improve the appearance of "crater like" acne scars, but I always use the subscission technique (ie move the needle to break up the scar to ensure even distribution of the product). I believe that many other injectors also use this technique and I've heard of subscission using saline for this same indication. The rationale is that by... more
