Subcision after Restylane

Bryan K. Chen, MD answers: Subcision after Restylane?

I would like to get scar subcision done, but was wondering if I can get it about a month after a Restylane injection? Would the filler make subcision less effective? What would happen if I did so?

I know that fillers after subcision is a good idea, but what if it is reversed? I got Restylane injected into my scars a week ago and I want to get subcision done in a month.

Is it possibile to get subcision done after a filler? Or should I wait 6 months or so for the Restylane to subside before I go on with subcision?

If you had restylane injected into your depressed scars, I would not recommend saline subcision at this time, as it would disperse the restylane that you just paid for.  As Dr. Chong mentioned, however, the subcision technique is frequently used to create a "pocket" under the scar and this pocket is then filled with restylane.  Filler should not make the subcision procedure less effective.

Good luck.
