Steroid Injections to Reduce Deep Facial Scar Tissue?

This was from trauma 10 years ago, no lacerations. The swelling didn't go down on one cheek; I was told it is deep interwoven scar tissue. It was recommended to build up the unaffected cheek with filler. I like the unaffected cheek so am avoiding this.
Knowing that surgery for the affected side is not possible (that's what I was told) would I be a candidate for steroid injection? I know I don't have incision-induced scarring, but I figure I'm experiencing the same adverse affects as hypertrophic scarring - excess cell growth and/or excess fluid retention. Thoughts? Thanks!
