Compression garments for lipo

Thanks for your question - Compression garments help to reduce the size of the dead spaces created by the removal of fat during the liposuction process. They also reduce swelling and fluid accumulation in the tissue allowing your body to heal the area with a contour your surgeon and yourself are seeking. This is true for all types of liposuction Hope this helps.

Compressions stockings or compression garments accomplish different goals.

Elastic compression stockings are a form of compression garments that are generally used to prevent blood clots during and after major surgical procedures. Elastic garments after liposuction are generally used to prevent swelling and minimize bruisng and lower the incidence of fluid collections. They are not universally used by all surgeons but when recommended are typically worn for 3 weeks after surgery.

Liposuction and compression garments

I my opinion, compression garments help with post-op swelling and prevention of seroma formation after any form of liposuction. Howver, there are some surgeons who opt for patients to not wear these garments.

Compression garments help with liposuction

Compression garments help with any type of liposuction. They help with comfort as well as making sure the skin is supported while healing and shrinkage takes place. How long you wear it is a matter of discussion with your own surgeon, but our patients wear it for about 3-6 weeks depending on the extent and location of the liposuction.
