Restylane In Tear Troughs

J. Darrell Steele, M.D. answers: Should I get restylane in tear troughs if traveling abroad in 3 weeks?

I'm leaving the country in three weeks (I'll be gone for six weeks)and I'm considering getting restylane injected in the tear trough area. I've found a really experienced doctor who has done many injections in this area. I'm worried about the potential bruising and/or other side effects.

My under eye area is darker and appears more vascular. What are my chances of getting bruising that lasts more than 2-3 weeks? I took an aleve a week ago. Has enough time passed to get over the antiplatelet effects of aleve? I don't want my trip to be ruined by adverse reactions.

Three weeks should be enough time to heal even if you have some bruising after the injections.  Most women can cover the redness and bruising after tear trough injections with cosmetics, remember that green based makeup covers redness the best.  Having said that I find that all patients do have some redness and bruising for the first week after restylane in the undereye areas.  Good luck and have a great trip!
