What is best for one person may not be best for another.  We choose a filler based on the location and size of the area that we want to fill and take into consideration how oftern the patient can come in for maintenance.  Cost should really be the last factor- you want the safest, most appropriate product for your particular issue.  If there is more than one filler that will do the job, then you can compare costs, but that should not be your first question.  Some fillers are better for filling smaller lines that are higher up in the skin while others are useful for deeper volumizing.  Some fillers are not appropriate for use in the lips or the thin skin around the eyes.  Some fillers last longer than others.

Restylane is a great place to start if this is your first time getting a filler because it has a long track record.  It has been FDA approved since 2003 but it has been used in Europe for much longer.  It is made of hyaluronic acid which you already have in your body so there is no risk of allergy.  It is not permanent so if you are not happy it will go away.  Juvederm is a filler that is very similar to Restylane and the two are often used interchangeably.  Both can be used to treat small wrinkles or deeper wrinkles.  Typically these fillers last about 6 months, but everybody is different.  I have seen people in whom Restylane has lasted only 3 months, and also people who still have it after 9 months.  It is important to discuss exactly what your expectations are and what you want to accomplish with your filler procedure.  Then you and your doctor can make the best choice.
