Restylane in lips

Benjamin Barankin, MD answers: Recommended volume of Restylane on upper lip?

Hi. I will be going in for my Restylane injections to my lips and was wondering how much is enough. I have lips already and really only want to add a touch to the top.

Would you say half a vial is enough? Too much? How much is in a vial? Thank you!

Everyone's lips are different, but if you already have a lip and are less than 50 years-old, I would say that a half-syringe is a great starting point since you could always add more later. My philosophy is that its always easier to add more filler than to deal with too much filler and have to try to take it away (more cost effective this way too!). A syringe typically contains 1-1.1 cc of filler, so 0.5-0.6 of filler is a great place to start. After you've had filler a couple of times and played with the amount, you'll know how much you need to make you happy, while still looking natural.
