Stop Topical Acne Medications Before Plastic Surgery Procedures?

Do you recommend patients to stop using topical acne medicines such as Differin or Retin A prior to plastic surgery procedure? Would having either present in my bloodstream affect the incision and/or affect the scar? Thank you!

Differin or Retin A should not affect healing from surgery

Both Differin or Retin A are Vit. A analogs which normally would not affect surgical healing. I would stop them if you are having surgery in the facial area (where they are applied) to reduce skin inflammation before surgery. If you are having surgery on another part of the body, i see no contraindications to their use.
