Painful lump after tummy tuck

Sean A. Simon, MD answers: Sore lump after Tummy Tuck?

I found this little lump at the top of my stomach muscles. Is this normal? (see picture). It's solid and it's uncomfortable to touch and after I touch it, it's sore. But also after I touch the top of my stomach, it is also sore.

There are many possible causes of pain or a lump after an abdominoplasty.  The timing after surgery and the techniques employed during the operation will help to determine the cause.  A discussion with the operating surgeon during a follow up visit should take place to aid you in your recovery.  The most important thing to rule out during the first several days to weeks after surgery is an infection.  Your surgeon should be able to determine this with a physical examination.  good luck.
