Non Surgical Skin Tightening Has It's Limitations

James H. Schmidt, MD answers: Facial skin tightening options?

I'm open to a face lift or facial plastic surgery but wanted more opinions on a variety of skin tightening options to tighten jowls and skin laxity in the face in general.

If your skin is in relatively good condition with good support you may be able to have some some non-surgical procedures.  These include various forms of laser resurfacing, and fillers.

Assess your particular situation carefully. If you have a noticeable amount of loose skin and it seems like the deeper tissues are starting to loose their support, the most appropriate treatment is to resupport and redrape the skin.  The true and tried procedures such as a face lift or neck lift can correct these areas and provide long term results.

Lesser procedures allow the skin to heal faster but also tend to have limited results and last for shorter periods of time. Make sure you understand what each procedure consists of, the healing period, and how long the procedure will last.
