Non Surgical Facelift is a Misnomer

Stephen Prendiville, MD answers: Is there a non surgical face lift that works?

in my early 50s with drooping facial features.  pray that someone tells me that a non surgery face lift is available -- alternative that doesnt require going through lots of recovering.  May be I can get away with treating using filling wiht things like resatylne?

When a patient has the aging changes (jowls, platysmal banding, mid facial descent, skin laxity) and the desire, Facelift is truly the gold standard for facial rejuvenation.  There is no procedure, invasive or non invasive, that approximates the result of Facelift.  Non surgical Facelift is truly more of a marketing description for minimally invasive procedures (fillers, Botox, IPL, non ablative laser treatments).

At the same time, not every patient with significant aging changes wants to, or is able to have surgery.  Will minimally invasive procedures produce good results and a level of satisfaction a patient is happy with?  In certain cases the answer is yes, in others the answer is no.  However, the patient will not obtain as comprehensive an aesthetic result without having a Facelift.

At the same time: Buyer Beware.  Beware of infomercials/ marketing touting 1 hour Facelift procedures, with minimal or no down time, and without the need for anesthesia.  See a surgeon with a great local reputation, with who you develop a sense of rapport, who is able to show you a wide range of consistent natural appearing results.
