Mastopexy and breastlift in one stage?

Tracy M. Pfeifer, MD answers: Lollipop breast lift and implants in one procedure?

I am interested in getting a lollipop breast lift and a 370-400cc breast implants at the same time. I am currently a 36DD. I had one doctor tell me I need to do it in 2 seperate proceedures for best scaring results, the other tells me that I can do it in one. What is recomended?

Hi Agmommy.  You are a DD and I am wondering why you need implants as your cup size is generous.  If you are happy with your size in a bra, you probably just need a lift.   For patients who do need both implants and a lift, I usually perform both procedures at once, although it can be a difficult operation.  For someone of your cup size, I would not do the 2 procedures at once (if at all).  I would perform the breast lift first and then let you heal and live with the result before considering implants.  Implants add weight to your breasts and yours are already heavy.  Heavy breasts make if difficult for the mastpexy result result to hold up over time.  Hope this helps.

A bresat augmentation and a breast lift certainly can be done at the same time. Some surgeons like to stage them, because they feel they can adjust things after the implants are in. I usually do them at the same time.
