Use a surgeon who specilizes in weight loss patients.

John LoMonaco, MD answers: Lower Body Lift Doctor Recommendation

I am considering lower body lift after gastric bypass done in 1996. Can you suggest a surgeon? This will be a once in a lifetime procedure and I want to get done in 8/09. I also at least need guidelines (I know it depends on MD and locale) when I interview doctors. Thank you!

Congrats on your weight loss.

Plastic surgery can go a long way to help you complete your journey. Post-bariatric plastic surgery is a very specialized area of plastic surgery, and requires a very different evaluation of patients, modified techniques, and specialized pre- and postop care because of the changes in your body and metabolism .

You would want to limit your choices to a plastic surgeon who specilizes in the care of weight loss patients.

Hopefully, your procedures can be combined as a single procedure although sometimes staged procedures several months apart are needed.
