The Isolaz, which uses Vacuum (to bring the hair follicle close to the source of light) and Intense Pulsed Light, can be very helpful in the Bikini area.
Remember, this is long term hair reduction, not permanent hair removal.

I am considering buying into the Tria laser for laser hair removal, simply because getting it done at an office is so expensive. Why "shouldn't it be used there" - does that mean getting it done at an office is really the only route?
