Charles Perry, MD answers: Laser Resurfacing for brown spots?

I am 47 years old. My face has lots brown spots. Is Laser Resurfacing the best treatment to rid off those spots? Or there is a better treatment for it.

Laser skin resurfacing can improve the skin texture and color.  In most cases when done at a level deep enough to remove the epidermis and stimulate the dermis brown spots will be removed or diminished.  In general we usually recommend a skin lightening agent as well and often will consider a Photofacial for pigmentation as well to optimize your results.  On occasion a South Beach Peel is a nice option as it combines both ablative and non-ablative energies to address the pigmentary changes.
