Keloid treatment after Fraxel or other Laser Resurfacing

Raffy Karamanoukian, MD answers: Keloid after Fraxel Repair

How can I treat the keloid scarring on my chest post Fraxel Repair? I have already had Fraxel Restore on setting 25 done on my chest. I think I have developed an infection  so I treated it with Keflex. Now I have keloid all over my chest. I have used a potent anti-inflammatory cream for one week but still I there's no improvement. Help!

Keloid and Hypertrophic scars are prone to occur with any treatment or chronic inflammation on the chest.  I have treated numerous patients with keloids on the chest resulting from acne, Fraxel treatment, laser resurfacing, even laser hair removal.

Treatment of the keloids must be comprehensive and definitive.  Keloids are resurfaced and minimized with topical treatments, surgery, observation, and injection.

The goal of therapy is to minimize recurrence.

I routinely treat these patients in my office as an outpatient procedure.  In some cases, treatments are covered by insurance.
