Juvederm and really any of the fillers can cause bruising. This happens from the trauma the needle causes as it enters the skin and affects the blood vessels around the injection site. Some of the ways to decrease injection is to stop aspirin and other blood-thinning agents such as coumadin, plavix, ibuprofen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, herbal supplements like like vitamin a, vitamin E, St. Johns' wort, ginseng, gingko biloba, etc. 5- 7 days prior to injections.

Please make sure that you check with your primary care physician prior to discontinuing any medically necessary medications. Some physicians also note that using Arnica and ice following injections can help to reduce the potential for bruising.
