Liposuction, or suction assisted lipectomy, is a safe procedure when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon.  Never compromise on credentials when it comes to liposuction.

The tumescent technique minimizes the amount of blood loss by the administration of an anesthetic solution with epinephrine. This allows for the safe removal of fat from the anatomic area with minimal blood loss.

Some older physicians still perform liposuction with tumescent solution. The benefits of this technique remain unclear given the ease of tumescent technique and the superior safety profile of the latter technique.
