Forehead reduction is possible

Steven Wallach, MD answers: Is forehead reduction possible?

I have a high and wide forehead. Is a forehead reduction possible, where the skin at the corners will be pulled in to bring the hair line down? If so, what is the estimated cost and recovery period of this procedure? Thanks.

A forehead reduction can be performed by advancing the scalp forward and removing excess skin from the top of the forehead. It is basically a reverse browlift. In terms of recovery you are probably looking at about 1-2 weeks.  Price varies around the country, but somewhere in the neighborhood of $5-10K.

Jaco,

Forehead reduction surgery is a common procedure. It is very similar to the procedure performed for brow lifting. It would be nice to see a picture of your forehead, since hair line, brow position, skin quality and many other factors go into surgical decision making for incision placement and plane of dissection. Good luck with your surgery.
