I have been performing traditional liposuction for more than 25 years and have performed more than 3000 procedures. Traditional liposuction using the "superwet" liquid anesthetic technique had been my preferred method up until the past three months when I started doing Slim Lipo on my patients.Traditional liposuction can result is skin tightening but depends more on the skin elasticity of the individual . In many cases of traditional liposuction the skin can sag and the situation can look worse than it did prior to the procedure.
There are two competing technologies out there that use a laser to assist with the liposuction procedure. One is SmartLipo that uses a 1064 and 1320 nanometer wavelength platform and the other is Slim Lipo that uses 924 and 975 wavelengths. The main benefit of utilizing laser energy is that it results in skin tightening. Both machines aid in dissolving the fat, but Slim Lipo has the edge because its laser is fat specific.
I have done about 50 Slim Lipo procedures and I have been very impressed by the early results that I have seen. There is far less bruising, less swelling and much less discomfort after the procedure compared to traditional liposuction. My impression is also that there are fewer contour irregularities as well.
