I want both a Brazilian Butt Lift and a Tummy Tuck- Which First?

Armando Soto, MD answers: Brazilian Butt Lift and Tummy Tuck advice

I am looking to get a Brazilian Butt Lift and a Tummy Tuck. Is it better to lose as much weight or fat for my tummy tuck, than to not lose weight and save up the fat for a Brazilian Butt Lift? Please give me some advice.

Hi there-

This is a question that comes up quite frequently in my practice...

Unless achieving that flat belly is clearly a  much higher a priority for you than the improved butt contour you also desire, I would always recommend doing the buttock surgery first.

Once you have the butt shape and size you want in relation to the rest of you, losing any excess weight is possible- as is the achievement of the abdominal improvement you want.

I do think that at the time of your tummy tuck it is important that you be stable and near your goal or target weight, but the same is not as important for the BBL- in fact we often send patients to gain weight prior to their Brazilian Butt Lift.

So all other things being equal, I think your goals are more likely to be met if you have the BBL first (maximizing the amount of fat available), followed by your tummy tuck.
