Edward A. Pechter, MD answers: Lollipop breast lift and implants in one procedure?

I am interested in getting a lollipop breast lift and a 370-400cc breast implants at the same time. I am currently a 36DD. I had one doctor tell me I need to do it in 2 seperate proceedures for best scaring results, the other tells me that I can do it in one. What is recomended?

If you do it in one stage there's a chance you may need a second operation to fine tune the result but if you do it in two stages you will obviously need at least two operations and possibly a third. So I'd try for one stage.

The loolipop scar lift is a general pattern that erncompasses a wide variating of breast situations from minor sagging to more severe sagging. This can often be combined with an implant but each clinical situation demands an individualized analysis. The main concern is one of compromised blood flow to the nipple since the nipple is surrounded by an incision. Large implants can reduce blood flow further by applying excessive pressure from underneath the nipple. In addition, the enlarging effect of an implant countered by the lifting and tightening effect of the lollipop lift can apply increased tension on the scar leading to widening or hypertrophy of the scar. However, when carefully customized, it is entirely possbble to do them simultaneously in many cases. If there is large changes in size and shape, you haveto be prepared for a possible second procedure to fine-tune your result because of the dynamic quality of tissue healing and implant.
