Here are some tips:

Avoid blood thinning products such as aspirin
Start Arnica montana 3 days prior to injection
Choose an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who does the procedure frequently
Be certain to ice the lips before the injection (cold constricts the blood vessels)
Be certain to ice the lips for 15-20 minutes after injection and compress the lips between your fingers
Do not have your injection during your menstrual period

Restylane injection and other filler injections are "blind procedures". This means that the doctor cannot see inside the lip and thus cannot visually avoid blood vessels. in addition, the lip is a very vascular structure which means it has very many blood vessels. Thus it is possible to have some bruising even with the best technique by the best user.

The most important factor I have found is adequate icing and cooling befrore and after the injection.
