What a great question! Your concerns are spot on with respect to a lot of women’s concerns about having lips that are ‘over corrected’.
I frequently hear these comments and fears from my patients. So, what tips do I have for you to avoid “fake over plumped up lips”?
- Start with a physician or nurse injector that is experienced. If they come recommended by someone you know and you like their results…great! Most times, this is not the case and you need to find a quality injector.
- Start by evaluating the injector’s work by reviewing pre/post procedure photographs of their patients.
- Be very clear in stating your intent that you prefer natural lip definition, not augmentation! Make sure that both you and the injector are on the same page.
- The easiest way to accomplish this is to insist that your photographs are taken and, together, both of you study them.
- Have a good dialogue and make a plan.
Oftentimes, with my first-time patients undergoing lip enhancement, I will have their photographs available and with a mirror allow them to view step-by-step what I intend to do. This not only builds their confidence, but their input is essential. Again, you asked a great question and I hope this helps!
