Hi!

In New York, we like to wait 6 months after delivery to do a breast lift or any elective surgery.  It is best to let all of your hormones return to normal.

A: Timing of breast lift after pregnancy

The period after pregnancy in which the body is still under the influence of increased female hormones is called the puerperal period. This can last from 3 to 6 mos. and can have significant effects on the breast. I advise my patients to wait.until it is over.

Dear MaiaOxOx

This is a very good question with lots of different answers- as you can see!! The most logical is when your breasts and body stop changing- they have reached an eqilibrium and the surgeon can then plan the shaping of your breasts with good confidence that the surgical result is what you are looking for.

The lifting surgery can be combined with- reduction in size, increase in size- using an implant or your own fat (know as fat grafting).

With Warm Regards,
