Do you bruise when you get your blood drawn? Bleeding, bruising, swelling is variable

Otto Joseph Placik, MD answers: How much swelling is caused by Botox or Juvederm?

I know that everyone is different but can you give me an "average" of how much swelling I should expect from my Juvederm and Botox injections? Will I be able to return to work the following day without looking odd to the general public? Will I be able to apply makeup as normal the next morning?

This is not always predictable due to the individuals response to the injury.

Do you bruise when you get your blood drawn? I bet sometimes yes and sometimes no. What's the difference?

There are things you can control and things you can't when it comes to bleeding/bruising/swelling and somethings that are myth.

  • AVOID ASA (aspirin) for 2 weeks & NSAIDs (i.e., motrin) for 1 week
  • AVOID alcohol
  • Use small needles
  • Apply ice before and immediately after
  • AVOID laying down or holding your breath during injections
  • Limit activity for 4-6 hours
