How much does liposuction surgery usually cost? Do you get discounts for the lipo price if you get lipo on multiple areas?

The cost of liposuction surgery is usually dependent on several factors:  the surgeon's fee, the operating room, the anesthesia, and the number of areas being treated. The cost of liposuction also varies from city to city. Though the price is very important in a patient's decision to have surgery, it is always important to find the right surgeon for you. If you look hard enough, you can always find cheap surgery.  However, that may not be the right choice.

Liposuction costs vary. It depends on the location of the practice, the experience of the surgeon, and the cost of the surgeons overhead.  Plastic surgeons may also charge more than dermatologists. In general, the cost of abdominal and flank liposuction in Orange County  varies from 3000 to 5000 dollars. Doing multiple areas is cost effective with less fees than 1 area alone.

A: Lipo Cost is frequently hard to explain

John P. Di Saia, MD

Hello,

Liposuction cost is frequently hard to explain. This is probably because many types of doctors offer liposuction and their costs of doing business are not the same. Liposuction can also be performed in low cost settings (like an office) or higher cost places (like a surgical center.)

The bottom line is that you are value shopping like for anything else. If you choose the cheaper option often you are being operated under numbing alone (more uncomfortable) by the less experienced doctor or by the non-plastic surgeon. Beware that some of the mistakes an inexperienced or poorly trained surgeon will make cannot be fixed.

You need to decide what is important to you.
