Proportionality more important than cup size

Bahram Ghaderi, MD answers: How many cup sizes can I lose after Breast Reduction?

I am a 38DDD... Will I be able to go down to a 38C (Like I was in high school)?

Just as in breast augmentation cup size is not accurate and it depends on which designer and/or which store you buy your bras from. The more important factor is proportionality of your breasts compared to the rest of your body. Patients who undergo breast reduction surgery feel that their breasts are too large for their bodies. Therefore, breast reduction is designed to produce a smaller, lifted better shaped breast that matches your body type. Although cup size is a point of reference for whether or not you are large or small, it does not directly correlate to the amount of tissue you remove with any consistent accuracy. So base your happiness and goals for the surgery based on what is consistent about the surgery - that you will have a smaller, more proportionate breast size that will help alleviate your discomforts such as back and neck pain. Make sure you discuss realistic expectations with your board certified surgeon. Breast reduction surgery has the highest patient satisfaction rate amongst plastic surgery procedures. It is the ultimate combination of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Good luck and you will enjoy your results.
