Botox units will depend on how strong your muscles are

Manish H. Shah, MD answers: How many Botox units for horizontal forehead lines?

I have about four forehead wrinkles that are getting deeper every day.  I call it my "washboard" forehead. How many units of Botox would I need to relax these forehead lines?

I will typically start with up to thirty units of Botox to the forehead alone to weaken the muscles. Some people have strong muscles and need more but at a first meeting with a patient, I will not know that. I have them come back in two weeks for a recheck and a booster if they need more Botox. Botox only weakens dynamic or mobile skin lines.  Fixed lines that develop over time need to be fixed through other means such as: laser resurfacing, use of injectible filler, use of wire subcision and injectible filler, and/or forehead lifting.

I recommend you see a board-certified plastic surgeon, dermatologist, or ENT/facial plastic surgeon to determine what procedure or combination of procedures would help you best attain your aesthetic goals.

Good luck.
