How long Juvederm lasts

William Bruno, MD answers: How long does Juvederm last?

I've been researching how long Juvederm lasts, but what people say in Juvederm reviews and what the FDA says don't really match up.  Can someone tell me, how long does Juvederm last? Does where you have the Juvederm injections in your face make a difference in how long it lasts?

The FDA states Juvederm can last up to one year. Typically, Juvederm last anywhere from 6-9 months, depending on the location of the injection.  In the nasolabial folds it seems to last longer compared to lip/perioral injections.  It also seems to last longer than Restylane, which is a similar product but in a somewhat lower concentration than Juvederm.

Some patients looking for a more longer lasting material in the nasolabial fold area may consider Radiesse, which is firmer, but may last over one year. Also a fat injection or transfer, which involves harvesting fat from a patient's body then injecting it into the face, can last even longer than the pre-made injectables.

Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon prior to any facial injectable fillers.

Hi KC,

Juviderm longevity depends on the area.  The more movement, the less lasting.  Juviderm lasts from 4 to 9 months in lips, while it may last longer that one year in the lower eye lid hollows.  In general I see it lasting between 6 to 9 months depending upon the patient.  Good luck and be well.
