Hi there-
Photos of breast augmentation outcomes are a useful resource for women interested in the procedure, in that they allow you to determine the surgeon's ability to reliably achieve a pleasing shape. This is VERY important- you wouldn't want to go to a surgeon whose breast outcomes look unattractive to you. They do NOT, however give you more information than that...
In other words, they will not, by themselves, give you information about whether the patient was happy (the breast may appear lovely to you, but be totally displeasing to the patient in question), whether the patient experienced complications, or whether they felt the experience was a positive one they would recommend to you.
As far as how you determine whether the outcome represented by the photo can be judged as a good one, it's really a matter of whether or not you can look at the photo and think the breasts are attractive. If the breasts are pretty to you, then great-- if not, then the outcome is probably not one you would want, right?
So, what's the bottom line?
Definitely ask to see photos of patients who have had the same procedure performed by the same surgeon, but realize the photos are only part of the puzzle, and you still need to do a lot more homework-
Learn about the surgeon's education, training, experience, and reputation.
Learn about the facility the procedure will be performed in. This is not something most patients understand, but there are a lot of corners being cut (some that would affect your safety) out there in order to save the surgeon a few dollars. Find a facility certified by the AAAASF, and maybe even ask to see the OR.
Learn about the person who will be putting you to sleep. This is the person who will be taking care of you while the surgeon does his/her thing, so be sure this is someone you trust as well.
Ask to speak to a few patients who have had the procedure with the surgeon. Be nervous if they can't provide you with even one patient happy enough with them to speak to you.
