These two machines are very similar, but the neck is a tough area to improve

Joel Schlessinger, MD answers: Fraxel Re:pair vs Total FX: Which should I choose for skin tightening on my neck?

There aren't many doctors offering Fraxel Re:pair in my area, and it's easier to find doctors that provide Total FX. Will skin tightening results through Total FX be as good as Fraxel Re:pair's results?

While both lasers can be used on this area, the tightening isn't as impressive on the neck and complications can occur when treating that area.  One of the biggest problems which can occur is when the colors of the skin around the neck and chest don't match after the procedure, making it nearly impossible to go without makeup at any time.

This is why the most important thing that you will do before getting this procedure is to choose who is doing it and, conversely, have them give you an honest view of whether you need it.  There are way too many physicians out there who have an expensive payment looming on a laser like this and need to pay for it, regardless of whether the patient needs it or not.

I do far more of the Fraxel re:pairs for the face than the neck and am more likely to recommend a product like Obagi Decollete for this area or IPL treatments than Fraxel or any other invasive laser.  Whatever you choose, good luck.
