In my opinion, this is the most critical portion of your consultation. Finding the right implant size is vital, since once the implant is in, there is no other option other than additional surgery.
Hopefully, you are realistic and would prefer an implant which is proportional to your body. During your consultation, the surgeon should measure your chest width and height and the elasticity and amount of breast tissue you have. Based on those findings, the surgeon can recommend a range of implant sizes.
In our office, we have the patient try the implant with a sports bra. The patient tries the implant with or without clothes. Since we have implemented this "try out" in our consultation, our revision rate for inappropriate breast size has been zero percent over the past three years.
By trying the implant, this will also give you an opportunity to see if you and the surgeon can see "eye to eye". I always recommend an implant which can comfortably fit within your body and, at the same time, fill your breast to the maximum. An implant which is too large for you will eventually cause the same problems associated with very large breasts (stretching and drooping of breast skin, enlargement of the areola, pain in the back and shoulders, etc.)
