Hi Nabila,
The hollow areas under the lower eye lids may be treated with filler to blend the "bag" of the eye with the cheek, restoring a rested and healthy appearance. A patient's own fat is the most permanent type of "filler" that can be used in this area. Some patients decide to have a temporary filler (Restylane or Juviderm) placed before committing to permanent fat grafting.
Fat transfer near and around the eyes is the most advanced technique of fat grafting, and it should be performed only by cosmetically trained and very experienced fat transfer surgeons. Evidence that fat grafts are permanent has been gained from numerous cases of misplaced or excessive fat in this area, and the resulting long term deformity that patients have suffered.
You should most definitely choose your fat transfer surgeon most carefully. When done properly there is nothing better, but when done incorrectly it is a nightmare. The fat that is present 6 months following the procedure is live fat tissue that will be with you for life.
Be well.
