Fat Grafting and Liposuction

David Shafer, MD answers: Harvesting fat on abdomen fat liposuctioned twice?

I need to know if the remaining dregs of fat in my abdomen can be harvested for grafting, despite the fact it has been liposuctioned twice? I desperately want the damage done to my legs through liposuction repaired and I am very short on spare fat. I intend to get a tummy tuck so about half the flab on my belly will be thrown away and damage to this piece of skin wont be an issue.

If you have already had liposuction in the area twice, the chance that you get enough fat for grafting is poor.  After liposuction, the areas normally develop fibrous tissue surrounding the remaining fat.  This makes if very difficult to harvest and what is harvested is less useable for grafting.
