Cellulite and weight loss

Steven Wallach, MD answers: Does weight loss cause cellulite reduction?

I know that cellulite is mainly a problem with the skin, but I heard that weight loss can help reduce cellulite. So, if I lose weight, would it help get rid of cellulite on my butt and thighs? How much weight loss would be necessary to make a difference (if any)?

Cellulite is thought to be due to outpouching of fat within a tight fibrous band near the skin. Perhaps with weight loss, it may look better.
