Botox--Injector Picks Dilution

Anil R. Shah, MD answers: Does a vial of Botox come pre-mixed?

I have heard Botox has to be mixed each time it is used. Is this true, or does it come pre-mixed? Thanks.

Botox does not come premixed. It comes freeze dried (kinda like astronaut food). The injector will help pick the dilution of botox depending on the intended application. Once botox is mixed it should ideally be used within 4 hours of reconstitution but this number is controversial. Botox can be made more dilute but can never be made more concentrated (Add saline to product but do not add actually botox to reconstitution).
